Public events

Sadly due to the Corona Virus and the advice from the government and NHS we are not running or attending Public events in 2020 with the exception of the Twickenham Honey Market on 31st August.

Association Public Events. We have 3 events at the Apiary in Whitton Road, Our open day in June, The Twickenhan Honey Market on the Monday of the August Bank holiday and our Honey Show beginning of October. In addition we do have stalls at some of the local fairs i.e. Ham Fair, East Molesey Fair, Church Street Fair and occasionally Twickenham Green.

Open day

We hold an Open Day on a Saturday in early June, where the public are invited to visit the apiary and find out more about beekeeping and what the association does. We have stalls demonstrating aspects of beekeeping like candle and frame making , try and find the queen in our observation hive, taste different honeys, activities for the kids (candle rolling and frame making), Sit and have Tea & cakes in our garden and of course buy the association honey. In Recent years we have also had Meriet Duncan author of “Betsie Valentine and the Honeybee” give a reading and the Beespoon exhibit, an interactive display showing the relationship between plants bees and honey which the children really enjoyed.

Honey show

The Honey Show is the Association’s ‘Harvest Festival’ held on the 1st weekend in October, where members and the general public can enter various classes to win a coveted award. For a full list of classes see our Schedule Of Classes and Prizes 2019. Although mainly aimed at Honey and Bee products, we have open classes for non members that include fruit, vegetables, photography, cake baking and even wild flowers in a tin can. There are also categories for schools and children. After the judging on the Saturday we open the Apiary up on the Sunday for all to see the entries and like our June Open Day there are stalls selling tea & cakes, Association Honey and demonstrating aspects of beekeeping.

Honey Market

The Twickenham Honey Market is held on the Monday of the August Bank Holiday. This is a chance for our members to sell their honey direct to the general public at our Apiary , 41 Whitton Road, Twickenham. You can usually get a chance to compare the tastes of honey from different apiaries. For more Information click here.

Other Events

The Association often has stalls at the local fairs where you can get a chance to chat with a beekeeper and possibly buy a jar of local honey. The events we usually attend are Ham & East Molsey fairs and Church Street Market, but we do try to attend others for the latest list click here. Sadly due to Covid-19 there are no events.
